Bio-Oil by Nicola

Skincare secrets

For a great gift for mums-to-be, buy them a bottle of Bio-Oil. They will definitely thank you for it.

Not all pregnant women go through that glowing skin-phase. To perk up dry and tired skin, Bio-Oil does wonders.

I noticed an immediate effect after the very first application, and now I'm a true convert -  Bio-Oil is going to become part of my everyday skincare routine.

Its also great for scars, uneven skin tone, ageing skin and stretch marks. I haven’t suffered from stretch marks during my pregnancy luckily, but if it works half as well as it did on my long-suffering skin, this will be a great addition to all pregnant womens' skin routines.

It feels silky when applied and smells great too and just a little goes a long way so the bottle will go far.

Chamomile Baby Wash and Shampoo from Organic Babies by Nicola

Trend Life tried out this chamomile baby wash and shampoo… see how it fared on our baby tester

The Chamomile Baby Wash and Shampoo from Organic Babies has a flip top – which although easy to use, isn’t quite as handy as a pump dispenser which you can use one-handed.

The smell is subtle but lovely.  It's handy that it is a shampoo, body wash and bubble bath in one, making it very useful for trips away and for compact bathrooms where you don’t want lots of bottles.

We love just HOW organic, eco and baby safe it is, ticking every eco box around!

It contains aloe vera, chamomile and sandalwood, which are natural and kind to baby's skin.

The Chamomile Baby Wash and Shampoo is suitable for washing body, hair and the nappy area, and also:

  • Protects young, delicate skin from dryness and irritation
  • Is non-irritating and pure enough for everyday use
  • Gentle cleansing properties retain natural skin and scalp oils
  • Excellent value – a little goes a long way and will last you considerably longer than off-the-shelf products.

This natural baby wash is made without SLS/SLES, parabens, lanolin, phthalates, artificial perfumes, petrochemicals and colourants to bring you the purest wash that nature can offer. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians

Chamomile Baby Wash and Shampoo - £6.89

Childrens Toothbrushes from MAM by Nicola

Teaching Toothbrushing...

Introducing these innovative new toothbrushes from MAM, the perfect way to teach little ones how to brush their teeth and ensure healthy teeth and gums for the future.

Start little ones off with the MAM Training Brush. It has an extra long handle which means mum or dad can also grip the brush and guide children with the correct motions. The non-slip, ergonomically formed handle guarantees a secure hold.

Then, as your little ones become more confident, introduce the MAM First Brush which encourages independence. With its smaller handle it easily fits into little hands and its soft round bristles ensures a gentle removal of bacteria and plaque.

On the bottom end of both MAM toothbrushes is a massaging head to massage sensitive gums, this doubles as a handy tongue cleaner.

The bright funky colours will appeal to children, and will inject a bit of fun into toothbrushing.

Boots Botanics Baby Body and Hair Wash by Nicola

Foamy Bath Fun...

The Boots Botanics Baby Body and Hair Wash comes in a small pump container – which, incidentally, makes it an ideal size for a two-week holiday.  It foams the gel as you pump, meaning it gives a very light and gentle wash, so I felt it was ideal for very small babies.  For older ones over six months, you may find you want a thicker consistency to give them a good wash, especially once they are weaning!

The smell was gorgeous, soft and clean, leaving Rosie smelling lovely and fresh.

As with all Boots' own products, the price was very reasonable at £3.05

John Lewis has a new addition to its babycare family with the launch of one of South Africa’s biggest organic brands, Pure Beginnings.

This eco- and vegan-friendly skincare range comprises of five pH-balanced products that are manufactured to organic standards without the use of petrochemicals, parabens, synthetic fragrances, colourants and sulphated surfactants, to really care for little ones sensitive skin.  Pure Beginnings Baby and Children’s products combine certified organic and native fair-trade African ingredients that have been ethically sourced from fair-trade initiatives in Sub-Saharan Africa, with traditional herb botanicals.

We tried out the Baby Wash and Shampoo, which is made of rosemary and geranium with baobab fruit extract.   It smelt absolutely gorgeous, and our little tester still smelled delicious the next morning.  It helped reduce baby's cradle cap within one bathtime too.

Pure Beginnings can be found in most John Lewis department stores.

Organic Babies by Nicola

Organic Babies – Organic, Natural and Fairtrade from Green People

Organic Babies from Green People is a dedicated range of eight pure and gentle organic products formulated especially for baby's sensitive skin.

Did you know that many mainstream cosmetic brands contain a large proportion of non-active ingredients in the form of water (often 70% or more) and synthetic ingredients? They are used to create improved textures, skin feel, fragrance and preservation as cheaply as possible.

Today eczema and allergies amongst children are on the rise, and the early introduction of toxic toiletries onto delicate skin may be a contributing factor.

Consumers are becoming more aware that many products claim to be natural and organic but in many instances this is not true. There may be less than 1% natural or organic ingredients in the product, therefore misleading the consumer. Always read the full ingredients list which should highlight the organic ingredients!

Certified organic and fairtrade, this range provides the purest, natural products that mums trust! Most contain over 90% active organic ingredients, making them highly effective, very concentrated and excellent value for money.

Green People advise mothers to avoid any products containing: SLS, SLES, Parabens, Lanolin, Propylene Glycol, Phthalates, harsh preservatives and synthetic fragrances which can be listed as “Perfum” to protect their baby's skin health.

Top Sellers include:

Organic Baby Salve: For dry/irritated skin. Suitable for babies who may be prone to eczema, dry skin and cradle cap. Can also be used as a nipple cream.

Organic Baby Wash & Shampoo: Gentle foaming and non-irritating. Use as a soap, bubble bath and shampoo.

Organic Nappy Cream Baby Balm: Soothes sore bottoms for babies with nappy rash. Locks out water acting both as a moisturiser and a moisture barrier.

Organic Children Sun Lotion: Gentle on sensitive skin and protects babies & children against harmful UVA & UVB rays. Rich in antioxidants to protect against cell damage.

Visit www.organicbabies.com to see the full range of certified organic baby and children products. RSP’s from £3.50 – £9.45. Also available from Waitrose and John Lewis
